According to several sites there are well over 1 billion Facebook users around the world. The idea of going cold turkey would be almost impossible for many younger people. If you, your children, or your employees are going to use social media, then at least try to use it safely, realizing that there are often unintended consequences. This column will address some of the ways people can avoid becoming the next social media casualty. Rule number one for social media users: keep your emotions in check; in particular, don't drink and post. Rule number two: be aware that there may be responses you can't handle.
